Was it then a pending volcanic lava flow?  Did the gold and silver veins run out on the other side on the mountain or was it plunging prices on mercury and asbestos?  What was the wagon requiring 2 horses use for?  Did they run out of water?  Would the land no longer support the crops being farmed?  A family lived there.  One building was a two holer.  Why did they leave?
