PLAIN NICKEL

The American Bison, that is the buffalo, is the iconic image of the Great Plains and the old west.  They are massive shaggy beasts and the heaviest land animal in North America standing 6.5 feet at the shoulder weighing over a ton.  Yet they are quite passive and can move faster than most racehorses-but not mine.  The icon was stamped on the nickel in 1913 but was called an Indian Head nickel because of the other side.  “O give me a home where the buffalo roam” was accomplished but a lot have been foreclosed on.
